1. (furry) (3735↑, 779↓)
There is no one single definition of what a furry is. Even within the [furry fandom], people cannot always agree on just what makes a person a furry or not. Some would argue that to be a furry, you must think and talk like one (i.e. use furry specific words and phrases). Even if you go to conventions, wear a [fursuit], draw the art, writes the stories etc but don't talk using furry lingo, you're not a furry. Basically, someone that may walk the walk but doesn’t talk the talk. Others would argue that even liking anthropomorphic creatures makes you a furry. You may have no idea the furry fandom exists or have ever heard of a furry convention, let alone any of the websites; simply liking 'anthro' critters makes you a furry. The way I see it, if or if you don’t consider yourself a furry is a matter of personal opinion. As with any hobby, most furries are normal people just like anyone you'll meet at work/school or going to/from work/school or anywhere. Then there is the small percent that are hard core fans and have taken what for most is a hobby and perverted it (sometimes in an all to literal sense). As is with so many other things in life, the few that take it too far tend to be the loudest. The silent majority are often forced into silence by the loud majority for fear that people will label them as being in the same class as the minority that have perverted it. One unfortunate side effect of the internet and the relative anonymity that some sites grant their users is people are able to engage in activities (even if only on a virtual level) that they would never even consider doing in real life. An example of this is [trolls] of message boards that say things to people they’d never say to them in person. I think a lot of the stereotypes associated with furries are because of this. In conclusion, as with any hobby, there are some furries that have taken it too far and/or perverted what for many is a fun harmless hobby.

If only the silent majority were not so silent, people would realise there is more to furries then perversion.

Possibly the strangest sub-culture in all of geekdom. Furries range from being harmless fans fascinated by anthropomorphic characters and animals, to immensely withdrawn or self-abosrbed persons who actually believe, or want to believe, they're eagle-winged fox-like versions of themselves with giant gentalia who wouldn't dare be anything else that could be considered mundane. Furries defy any coventional or unifying definition.

3. (furry) (2222↑, 862↓)
n., adj. In the broadest definition, someone who finds the idea of anthropomorphic (humanlike) animals, in art, fiction, cartoons, costume, or other media, to be an appealing one. Furries are an extremely diverse group and no one furry may possess all, or any, of the traits typically associated with the group; furries can range from people who are fans of old Warner Bros. and Disney cartoons; people who enjoy portraying anthropomorphic animals in art; people who enjoy imagining what a future, past or alternative world might be like if humans were replaced with or accompanied by anthropomorphic animals; and people who like wearing costume tails, ears and/or animal mascot costumes, to those who feel spiritual connections to animals or to the animal form; those who admire the beauty, power, speed or grace of of the animal form; those who believe they have empathy with or can communicate with animals, for example people who work with them; people who have a great deal of respect for animal welfare; and people who find the concept of anthropomorphic animals enjoyable in a sexual way. (Amongst many, many other things.) Those who do enjoy the erotic/adult side of furry are, like those who participate in any other sexual fetish or behaviour, almost always harmless in their indulgence of their fantasies, which usually involves erotic art and roleplay, and may involve consenting activities with fellow adults while in costume. Why people get uptight about what is such a cute, silly and affectionate expression of pleasure between two (or more) consenting adults when there's much worse out there to get worked up about such as child abuse, I'll never understand. It's about fun, people. Try it sometime.

n. Furries often attend conventions. adj. Furry art incoroprates many diverse forms of media.

1. adjective.: having or coated in fur. 2. adjective.: being related to the 'furry' community, such as artwork, stories. 3. mistake.: A misspelling of fury =P 4. noun.: a. One who shows interest in things that can be described with the 'furry' adjective. b. One who prefers to imagine themself as more animalistic than they are. Other related definitions: stereotype-furry: Derogatory generalization of how many 'furry-haters' see the noun form of 'furries' as, usually portrayed as pitiful homosexual men who dress up as the animal they like or 'want to fuck' the most, and have sex with their animals. This is in fact not what 99% of 'furries' are like, however, being the most widely publicized, it is also the most widely criticized. furry-hater: One who takes it upon themselves to be prejudice against the noun form of 'furries', usually assuming that all 'furries' are 'stereotypical furries', needlessly persuing some sort of apparent need to let everyone know that they hate 'furries' 99% of all furries: Some draw, some write, some read, some listen to stories, most keep to themselves because of 'furry-haters' Just like everyone else, some are male, some are female, and just like everyone else, some are gay, some are straight, and just like everyone else, most go to school or have a job.

Personally I consider myself a furry, I have an online persona of myself with ears and a fox tail, I am male, I'm straight, I don't draw a lot of furry art because I'm not that good at it, I don't write stories for the same reason. I do read other peoples' stories and look at their art, I have no sexual interest in actual animals (see zoophiles and bestiality folks) I go to college, and have a job, I'm not fat either. I'm just a furry *wags his tail happily* And any furry-hater who doesn't like me because of it, too bad, it's who I am.

Furry [fandom] is a category (or sub-genre) of fantasy dedicated to [anthropomorphics]: fictional animal characters given human personalities and characteristics. It originated as a fusion of [science fiction], [comic book], and [animation] fandom during the 1980s. It has thrived and grown, evolving into its own branch of fandom and finding adherents all over the world – enough that they may be regarded as forming a subculture. Furry fandom has a large presence on the Internet, and many furry conventions in North America and Europe are held every year, the largest being Anthrocon in Philadelphia in July with an attendance of nearly 2500. Further Confusion, held in San Jose, California each January, is almost as large. In 2004, 19 such conventions took place around the world. The original furry convention was the now-defunct Confurence, based in southern California. Furry fans, sometimes referred to as [furries] or furs for short, are eager for more material than is available from mainstream publishers. The demand is filled by fellow fans – amateur to professional artists, writers, and publishers who produce drawings, paintings, stories, independent comic books, fanzines, Web sites and even small press books. Fans with craft skills put together their own stuffed plush furry toys, sometimes referred to as plushies, or build elaborate furry costumes called fursuits (with features such as ears, fur, long tails, moving jaws, and even animatronics) and dress up in them for fun, or to participate in convention masquerades, dances or fund raising charity events. Charitable works are a tradition in furry fandom; many conventions feature an auction or fundraising event with the proceeds often going to an animal-related charity. Over the past 5 years, furries have raised over $90,000 for animal rescue organizations and animal therapy groups. Some furry fans create furry personas ([imaginary characters] based on their own personalities) by which they become widely known in the fandom. A yearning to explore self-identity is common among these fans. They may write stories centered on their characters, build or commission fursuits so they can "come to life" as their character, commission artwork, or engage in role-playing sessions on one of the many furry-themed MUDs on the Internet, the oldest of which is [FurryMUCK]. When such furry fans meet one another in person, they may be more familiar with one another's online personas than with their real identities.

Many artists and writers draw furry characters. I got to meet furry fans at a convention in Chicago.

8. (furry) (388↑, 289↓)
Adjective: An anthropomorphic subject; that is, a fictional character or concept that blends non-human characteristics with human characteristics. The term is commonly referred to as 'Furry', because many easy examples can be made by thinking of popular animal-anthropomorphic characters, both in children's media (Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, etc.) and adult's media. (Anime 'cat' girls, Playboy 'bunnies', etc.) Technically, although it may be stretching a little, the term 'Furry' can be applied to anything that combines the two human and non-human characteristics, and need not necessarily be limited to mammalian (The roaches in 'Joe's Apartment', mythical creatures such as dragons or unicorns) or even zoocentric (The computer programs in 'Tron' and 'Reboot'. Transformers) qualities. Noun: A fan of furry subjects in culture, art, and literature. Some Furry (fans) are also [Fursuiter]s, people who like to dress up as anthropomorphic characters. The term 'Furry' is not forward-or-backward-inclusive with such terms as [Plushophile], [Fursuiter], and [Zoosexual]. A person can be a furry fan without being a Plushophile, and likewise, a Zoosexual may not consider themselves a Furry. Some Furries like to mix in a little erotica with their fascination of furry culture, but that's just human nature. Not much different then the way some people attach a little sensuality to their cars or power hardware.

Adj: Bugs Bunny is an example of a Furry character. Noun: I like reading about Furries and collecting artwork. I am a Furry.

9. (furry) (193↑, 98↓)
Furries are simply a group of ironicly humanistic people that enjoy animals and anthropomorphic art and litteature. Many are artists and writers themselves and I personaly hope they live on to bring new ideas to modern culture as it desperately needs them. Socially speaking, Furries are generaly more liberal then you would expect. So you come across a lot of things that would shock most people... things like erotic art (yiff), gays and straight people acutally getting along, and a general acceptance of different religions including paganism, atheism, and yes even Christianity. Because of this, furries are subject to a lot of "trolling" on the internet and even by media in a few instances. This has made several, especially young, furs self-conscious and has led to the stereotype of having a persecution complex. Most of the furs I know are over that, most attempts of "fur-bashing" are laughable at best. And in the end the only real threat to the fandom is on the internet... big deal right? And all the things that are "wrong" with the fandom are almost part of it's charm, if that makes any kind of sense.

furry is fun, lighten up :3

1. adj. a. Covered in fur. b. Similar in texture or appearance to fur. 2. n. An [anthromorphic] animal. 3. n. A person who is to any degree interested in (read: not necessarily wants to [yiff]) animals, which can range from animals with the ability to speak to those with very humanlike bodies. Some furries are quite fond of (read again: not always yiff) [plushies] and, less commonly, dressing up in a [fursuit] that either depicts their [fursona]/favorite animal or just a giant plushie. Many tend to write stories/poetry about or draw their fursona or any other anthromorphic [creature]. Some, I may add, are quite [good] at it. Any other sub-culture on this planet is just as prone or moreso to harm children as furries are, so why and how the "all furries are dangerious to children" [rumor] has spread remains unknown. Note that not all furries are [disgusting] middle aged men who are [unemployed] and create a better [imaginary] [self-image] for the sake of getting some [cyber action]. Some are young, [successful], and have no [problems] with their image. Note: Most people seem to agree on all definitions but the last, thusly, the particular entry contains much greater detail than the other two.

11. (furry) (152↑, 92↓)
A furry is an anthropomorphic animal character. Some examples of anthropomorphic characters would be cartoon animals featured in animation, such as Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. Some may also appear as mascots or advertising characters, like the Exxon Tiger or McGruff the Crime Dog. On the other end of the spectrum, furries can be talking animals featured in fairy tales, such as Aesop's Fables or literature, such as Watership Down. The fans of anthropomorphic animal art and writing are also sometimes referred to as furries. Furry fandom is defined as the appreciation, promotion, and production of stories and art about anthropomorphic animals, as well as the exploration, interpretation and examination of humanity and human values through anthropomorphic expression. There are about a dozen yearly furry conventions across the United States, which feature events such as art shows, discussion panels, and charity auctions.

Furry fans have raised thousands of dollars for animal-related charities over the past five years.

12. (furry) (84↑, 32↓)
A person who belongs to a relatively small subculture of people who enjoy anthropomorphic animals. Anthropomorphic animals are fictional animals that have humanlike bodies and/or minds; the term “furry” is also used to describe such creatures. Because of the wide range of preferences and opinions within the culture, furries tend to disagree on what establishes a person as a furry. To some it means having a spiritual connection to animals; some believe it depends solely on having a sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals; others claim that a furry is any person who likes some kind of “anthro” animal, such as a cartoon character. People who identify themselves as furries will often create anthro characters to represent themselves. The most common species are wolves and foxes, though a furry character can be any type of animal, even a mythical one such as a griffin or a dragon. These alternate personas (playfully called fursonas) are displayed proudly by their creators through art. Furry art is made in various styles and forms of media. Though sometimes controversial within the fandom, it is true that a great deal of these artworks are sexual. Though most furry-related activity occurs on the internet as art, role-playing games, and chat rooms, there are also several furry conventions held. A small percentage of furries will wear full body costumes to these conventions. These costumes are based on their wearer's fursona and are called fursuits, and those who wear them are called fursuiters. Fursuiters and many furries who attend conventions are often considered “geeky” and obsessive about the furry fandom and “geeky” things in general; however, these assertions are not true of the entire fandom. Most furries are not obsessive and have other hobbies and interests. Some frustrating misconceptions towards furries is that they engage in beastiality and that they have sex while wearing fursuits. These allegations are very untrue with the exception of a very small number of people. It is true, however, that most male furries are gay or bisexual. Most furries are essentially ordinary people who live normal lives.

I'm a furry and I'd rather be an anthropomorphic wolf than a human.

Furry is a rather diverse sub-culture. The stereotypical view of Furry is that it is "a bunch of people having it in costumes". As with most [stereotypical] views, this is an incorrect view of Furry. Furry is a sub-culture in which the "members" have some connection with [anthropomorphics]. This can be in many ways, as [roleplaying],anthro art, [fur-suiting], feeling they have the spirit or soul of an animal etc. Furries vary, they are male and female, come from all continents, all age groups etc. Back to the [stereotype]. As I said, this is an incorrect view of Furry. Though this is not something all Furries take part in there are a small proportion who do so. Anything to do with [sex] in Furry is called [yiff]. In the '90s there was a sudden uprise of [yiff] art on the [internet]. Most of this has gone now, but this image of Furry remains.

He was well known for being a Furry, as he wore a tail around everywhere.

1. To be covered in fur; fluffy; fuzzy. 2. Furry fandom. This is where this definition becomes a full out rant. Furry fandom is something widely controversed. To cover the most general of definitions, a person who is interested in (Note that I said interested in, not is sexually attracted to) [anthropomorphic] animals. Some people believe that you are only a "Furry fan" unless furry is a lifestyle for you. Still others believe that even if you don't know the meaning of the fandom, if you like anthro animals then you're a furry. To each his own. Personally, I think it's about choice. Many furries create alter-egos/roleplay characters/ect. that are often called "[fursona]s". Y'know, furry personas? A lot of people assume all sorts of strange things about people who call themselves furries. I have personal experiance with this one, folks. Let me tell you something: We are NORMAL PEOPLE. Some us are male, some female, some straight, some gay, some have jobs, some don't. We are not all automatically people who have sex in animal costumes. There certainly ARE some people like this within the fandom, but don't act like we are all the same. If it worked that way, then because Shakespear is dead, and some frogs are dead, then Shakespear was a frog. I hope I have helped you instead of wasted your time, but that's my two cents.

My cat is really furry, but he sheds a lot. I like furry art.

16. (furry) (149↑, 128↓)
Someone who enjoys writing long, boring, apologetic definitions for their [fursuit] fetish.

Furry: What is it to be a furry? It is not a simple term to define. One has to consider, naturally, the anthropomorphic quality inherent in most instances of the proclivity, but really, it is more of a philosophy, a basic way of seeing a different form for yourself. That vision can be expressed in various ways, from artistry and poetic invention to socialization with like-minded folks. Generally, tbey share an interest in literature and imagery containing antrhopomorphic creatures. Most furries are pretty normal people, but in some cases... Cynic: Dude, you get off [dry humping] people while wearing a fuzzy mascot suit and looking at doodled pictures of cat people. Furry: W...what? Cynic: Jeez, don't worry about it; whatever turns you on. I kind of like fat chicks. Just show some courtesy and shut up about it, ok? I don't go around saying that I've had some sort of intellectual revelation after I've [shagged] a [whale]. Furry: *sniffle* But I don't...I mean, I mostly just appreciate the art and... Cynic: Pardon me while I go appreciate some art "depicting" a [BBW] eating pork rinds and [Twinkies] off her belly. Furry: You're sick. Cynic: BUT AT LEAST I'M HONEST\!\!\!

17. (furry) (73↑, 55↓)
Not to be confused with people who have a "yiff" paraphilia. The broadest definition is an "anthropomorphic enthusiast" the same way a trekie is an "star trek enthusiast". Some might say they are a furry because they collect stuffed animals or "plushies". Some might say so because they enjoy anthropomorphic films/television programmes such as Balto or The lion king. Like most fandom cults they hold conventions where they get to meet eachother and discuss anthropomorphic topics, dress up in anthropomorphic costumes aka "fursuits", play dance-dance revolution and have a good time. Some people collect stamps I guess.

The lion king was the only decent furry movie Ive ever seen.

18. (Furry) (22↑, 6↓)
a furry is a member of the furry fandom, which is a fandom (fans of artwork) that centers around the appreciation of anthropomorphic animals or characters.

A person that shows interest in anthros can be considered a furry.

19. (Furry) (51↑, 35↓)
The word furry has several meanings, dependent on the context in which it is used. Predominantly, it pertains to an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or mythological or imaginary creatures which possess human or superhuman capabilities. The plural form of furry in all its contexts is furs or furries; the subjects of furry interest are also known as furries. Thanks to the public eye, such as an article in Vanity Fair and the television program CSI, furries are often stereotyped as an overweight middle-aged guy with a bestiality fetish and a habit of dressing up in fursuits and "getting it on" with poor, defenseless plushies in holes they dug in the forest before eating berries, though most recognize that as somewhat of an exaggerated stereotype. Someone who says they are furry is generally expressing an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures. How deep or meaningful that interest is varies greatly from person to person. Also, the breadth of a person's interest in the fandom, and what ultimately makes them furry, is specific to each individual. Below is a list of common interests with which a fur is likely to identify. A furry may be interested in any or all of them, to any degree. Someone claiming to be furry would also be part of the furry fandom. Interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures can be as simple as the many popular furry cartoon characters, known as funny animals. These may include Bugs Bunny, Tony the Tiger, Sly Cooper, Star Fox, etc. However, someone who merely happens to like these characters is not necessarily a furry; the degree and nature of one's interest is relevant here. Some furs believe they have a spiritual connection to a particular animal which is typically their fursona, but also may be a totem. Strong spiritual believers may often say that they are "an animal in a human body" (and in fact may identify themselves as Otherkin, Weres and/or Therians). Furry lifestylers often fall into this category. Some furs may be interested only in the creative aspects of the furry fandom. Furry content, both online and off, is easy to obtain, and available in vast amounts, and furs produce new works regularly. Furry artwork is also done by many nonfurries as well in targeting the fandom. Others may disassociate themselves from the fandom and refer to themselves as funny animal artists. Furries may also enjoy role-playing a particular furry character or fursona, sometimes writing about this character or recording their online interactions for posterity. A relatively common practice among furries is to dress up in a costume that is typically designed after a fursona. These "fursuits" are usually worn at conventions, and a few are even designed to accommodate sexual situations. To some furs, the sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals is a part of what makes them furry. This is a topic of much controversy, as it has been the subject of early media attention (such as that from Wired Magazine and Vanity Fair), and has spawned a few groups (such as the Burned Furs) with a desire to shame or suppress those who display their philias in public. From within the fandom, anything classified as an anthropomorphic animal and/or creature could be called a furry. That could be anything from Scooby Doo to various sports mascots to Omaha the Cat Dancer. Since mainstream characters are generally not created with furries in mind, the furry context is presumed by most outsiders to not be present despite subcultural interest. Any art showcasing anthropomorphic animals is generally considered furry artwork. Artwork that contains furries in sexual situations may be called yiff or spooge art. Anthropomorphic creatures that are also considered to be furry include (but are not limited to): dragons and lizards (also known as "scalies"), gryphons, and taurs (centaurs being the prime example).

20. (Furry) (17↑, 2↓)
A subculture of people who are typically interested in anthropomorphism. There are three types: Tier 1- Mildly interested. Probably don't own a fursuit. Like furry art and stories. Make up about 90% of furry population. Tier 2- Highly interested. Most likely own a suit and have a fursona. A little weird, yes, but there are weirder things. Usually harmless, very social. Make up about 6% of furry population. Tier 3- The general idea of furries to ignorant people. Those who take it too far. Believe themselves to be nonhuman and sometimes engage in sexual activity. It is this tier that began the negative portrayal of furries. Perhaps 4% make up the furry population. That is all. And no, I'm not a furry, nor am I a furry hater.

A furry is a person who has an affinity for animals, but furries are often portrayed as bestial lowlifes, a sad stereotype that has unfortunately grown in the past few years.

21. (furry) (49↑, 34↓)
Someone who enjoys and/or creates art, literature, costumes, and more that pertains to anthropomorphised animals. Since the interests of the people who belong to the furry fandom range widely it is misrepresentative of the fandom as a whole to discribe them all in a specific fashion rather than a generalized one (i.e. they all dress up in fursuites isn't true since some of them dont do this.) Interests: -Anthropocentric: when the creation of anthropomorphised animals is in the service of representing people and human nature, rather than having anything to do with the animal itself. (Animal Farm: by George Orwell; Aesop Fables) -Zoomorphic: When animal characteristics are attributed to a god (or in this case human being: such as cat eared girls, or werewolves in some cases). Interest lies with the feral side of the being rather than the human side. The nature of interests furries have can originate from either of the above examples, and in the end this is where many associations between furries can get confused. The fact that furries like animals and people and the associations between them is always clear, as both forms and minds of each being are always present (There's always an animal and human involved). But the degree by which the animal is admired or human is admired over the other must be paid attention to if one is to udnerstand the true nature of each individual furry. Examples-- Teddy Bear: The teddy bear used to be shaped mostly like a bear in its early days. It had a small forehead, beady little eyes, large muzzles and noses, and a small head proportionate to its overall body. People did not buy this toy often because they couldn't emotionally associate with it well. In time designers of the toy began to anthropomorphise the stuffed bears giving them: big eyes, big foreheads, small noses scrunched up to their faces, and large heads too big for the body. In otherwords, they made teddy bears more like...babies\! People began to associate with teddybears in a motherly, parenting sort of way banking many positive feelings with the bear. These people could be considered furries, because they like an anthropomorphised animal; and they could also be considered furries who come from a anthropocentric perspective, because it is not the animal they show affection for-but the human baby the animal represents. Little Red Riding Hood: Some theories wrap around this story as one that demonizes wolves. Others say it is a fable told in the old days from parent to daughter as a way of warning their girls that pedophiles and rapists were in the world- and to watch out for them. So, some theories point to the story as being about the animal, others say it is about the human/human nature the animal represents. Furries could be fans of the story from either a anthropocentric angel or a animal centric one. In the end, the point is that Furries come in all shapes and sizes, with variations between why they like what they like. Furry is not an ambiguous term, it is simply a term that describes a vast variety of people who have merely one characteristic in common: liking anthropomorphised animals.

Examples Given above. Personal Example: *shrug* I'm a furry. I like anthro animals, dont like wearing fursuites, dont like bestiality, and merely draw and write about anthropomorphised animals. And I dont get insulted if you call me a human...that's what I am.

A furry is any sort of half-animal/half-human creatures, usually bipedal. Most commonly appearing in the form of "talking animals" or "animal-headed people." Many are familiar cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse. A furry is also sometimes used as shorthand to mean a furry fan, i.e., anyone who likes anthropomorphic animals. There is a small but growing [fandom] for people who like furries. A [furry hater] is someone who is willfully ignorant about [furries] and goes around making stuff up about them on UrbanDictionary.

The common response from people when you ask "Have you ever heard of furry fandom?" is "No." That doesn't mean they're furry haters, they've just never heard of furry fandom. Furry fandom is pretty awesome.

A hobby/genre which focuses on artwork and stories about animal-headed people. Unfortunately, the brainless boglumps from anti-furry websites just don't "get" furry fandom and clutter up UrbanDictionary with flimsy crapulence because they're incapable of creating anything of their own. Let's break it down so there can be no confusion: You don't have to think you're an animal to be a furry fan. You don't have to rave about your inner platypus to be a furry fan. You don't have to insert the word "fur" into every sentence to be a furry fan. You don't have to wear a fursuit to be a furry fan. You don't have to like furry porn to be a furry fan. Most [furries] are just folks who thought "The Lion King" or "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" or even Sonic the Hedgehog was majorly cool. They write about and draw cartoon animals. I have no idea why this makes some people go apeshit, but there ya go.

A furry which has been stated in "Guinness Book of World Records 2008" is said to be a club genre for a subculture that enjoys dressing up as animals. "Furries" as they are known, meet at confurences and share their love of animal anthropomorphism - that is, the depiction of animals with human characteristics.

An anthropomorphism or "Furry" could be known as the rabbits in Richard Adams novel "Watership Down".

Furry is the commonly-accepted name of a branch of the [Science Fiction] Fandom focusing on animals with humanlike characteristics, or [anthropomorphic] animals with abilities to do things like walk and talk. Sometimes conventions are held for people in the [fandom] to go meet each other. While some of them like to wear animal-related accessories (like fake ears and tails) and others make elaborate costumes to look like there ideal furry character, this is by no means a requirement. There are a lot of furry artists and writers as well, who draw and write about anthropomorphic [animal]s.

Furry is a fandom of people that have an interest in [animals]. They are defined by 1 or more of the following groups: (A)Fursuiters (Costume furs) (B)Artists (Furry/Anthro art) (C)Furverts (which are actually quite rare in this fandom) (D)Roleplayers (DnD, with anthro furs) (E)People who genuinely believe they're animals (Nutcases) Most furries are B and D, but if you run into all of these categories mixed together, RUN AWAY\!\!\! Because you have just met the kind of fur that made the public coin the term "[furfag]" for all furries. Any person who has any mix, but involves category C is also what's called a "[furfag]". Furries have NO sexual attraction to their pets, that is a myth made up by a couple of [wigger] kids while getting high off their dad's drug collection. But be doubtful about that damn category E... As all non-furry lunatics are, these guys are unpredictible.

Mos furries are B and D, but the ones that involve C and/or E are "[furfags]". Furries are sexually attracted to other humans and are in the furry fandom for fun. Fursuiting, if it doesn't involve diapers, is a perfectly acceptable thing for furries to do. Even non-furries fursuit for birthday parties, theme parks etc. Remember these truths and keep them in mind when you meet a furry.

Those who like art, stories, games, etc. 4. Otherkin. those who don't believe they're human in spirit.

Noun: Furry Furry include basically humanoid-formed creatures with animal faces, fur/scale/feathers/whatever, and often appropriate tails, wings, claws, etc., able to speak, and with a human-like personality, though quite often with "quirks" hinting at the real-life animal upon which the character is based. There are furries all around from the world, for example: Asia,Europe,USA,Canada people some time meet up at conventions. The majority of people in furry fandom are either Bi or Gay but you also do get Straight and Male or Female people in the furdom as well As in most (sub)cults theres a darkside which involes sex, people who fetish with animals, but not everybody is like this. The furdom ranges differntly from person to person it can be just people who like drawing animals or anthropomorphic animals (Animals with human features, such a human with cat ears) or a person who likes to dress up in there fursona fursuiter or just likes to act as there favorite animal Normally people who are furries have a fursona, some don't, some have more then one its up to the person. People may also wear tailes/fursuits/fur heads/paws either around the house, or out in public or not at all its up to the person. Furry does not revolve around sex, not everyone wants to go and yiff another furry, this is where its mostly confused with them thinking all people like having sex with people who are furry, you belive that your wrong. The age can range from a person young as 13, to up to the age of 60, as I said above not all people want to have sex with the animal/furry

30. (furry) (93↑, 83↓)
The term "furry" means any anthropomorphized animal. They are also known as "funny animals," but this is an outdated term. Since a furry is an anthropomorphic version of an animal, we can determine what a furry character is by carefully defining our usage of "[anthropomorphic]". By definition an object is "anthropomorphic" if it has been given human attributes; these usually include the capacity for rational thought, emotions, and an upright posture. An anthropomorphic animal, therefore is a hybrid that is somewhere between a human and the original species. Examples of furries abound, and these can surely cement the concept for any readers that stopped to re-read the above paragraphs. Most cartoon characters are furries (e.g. Donald Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Pink Panther, Quickdraw McGraw, etc.). Many cartoon characters are quite removed from the actual animals; their charicatured forms still retain many animalistic traits, however, and this identifies them as furries. Many comic book characters (e.g. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Omaha the Cat Dancer, Usagi Yojimbo), movie characters (e.g. the Rippers in "Tank Girl", Barf in "Space Balls"), and mascots (e.g. the San Diego Chicken and Smokey the Bear) are also, at a basic level, anthropomorphized animals. Finally, furries are also commonly found in artwork, literature, and mythology (I won't bother to list examples here; I think you've got the idea by now). These are diverse categories, and this is one reason that it is hard to develop a comprehensive notion of what constitutes a "furry".

I like to draw furry artwork.

A specific type of, sometimes rather zealous, fan of animals and the like. Furries tend to enjoy dressing up as and/or acting like animals, as well as attending furry conventions, though many simply partake in "furry art" (art typically involving anthropomorphized animals) or other, lesser, forms of being a furry. Due to a loud minority, many Furries have ecently been stereotyped as being "perverted," or "overly sexual" when going about their business. However, this is a blatantly false belief, as there is an extremely low percentage of Furries that do so, just as there are some non-Furry people in everyday life that do so. Being a Furry is clearly not something to be afraid or ashamed of despite adversity. Most Furries are amicable and otherwise "normal" people, as can be seen from attending a convention or two (this is not to say that Furries are "abnormal." I am merely trying to get a point across). Any stereotyping, hating, or flaming should be avoided when dealing with Furries, as there exists a fairly strong Furry pride (avoiding these things tends to be a pretty good idea in general).

It's too bad that Furries are so disliked by those that do not understand them, as they are just "normal" people with a unique hobby. Any Furries that treat their Furry-ness as an obsessive or perverted way of life should not be considered to represent the majority.

Firstly, there are furries and there are Furries. The former term is simply anyone who is fascinated by anthropomorphic animals in media. May watch many Disney movies or read Redwall or similar novel series often. While they are strange, they can usually still function normally in regular life, as it doesn't take more than the role of a hobby or an interest. Then, there are the Furries. There is no way to completely describe them all. However, it is safe to say that they are an extreme version of Furries. Their interest in anthropomorphic animals is an obsession; and, as with any other obsession, hurts their social skills with normal people (who, by the way, they call "mundanes," implying that they are somehow more interesting than a sane person.) They may believe that they are part animal, an animal in a human's body, or were previously an animal (note however, they were always something "cute" or "magestic." They are never voles or rats. This may stem from a negative self image.) They also produce some of the most disturbing pornography on the internet, "furry porn," where the animals "yiff" (euphemism for sex). However, since there is no real-life "yiffing," all of this porn is usually in [hentai] format (i.e.-drawn). Many Furries fantasize about anthropomorphic animals from many children's movies. However, they are also extremely vocal about their perversions, which sets them up as easy targets. What makes it even easier is the fact that it is as easy to hurt their feelings as an [emo] kid's. Because it is easy to make fun of a furry, something awful "goons" and portal of evil forum members (admittedly neither forum can brag of having particularly intelligent or unintelligent posters) have a field day whenever a furry wanders into a chatroom wherever said members are chatting.

Furry: "Who wants to see half-Lion and half-Bunny yiff? If you do, come to my site. No furry haters please\!" Me: "I don't think posting on something awful is a very good way for a furry to avoid ridicule."

A furry is an [anthropomorphic] animal. You often see them in cartoons or advertising. Furry characters, sometimes difficult to describe in prose, often come to life on the comics page. Some popular anthropomorphic comics include Usagi Yojimbo, a samurai rabbit created by Stan Sakai, and Shanda the Panda, a modern single-girl panda by Mike Curtis.

Tony the Tiger is an example of a furry.

NOTE: Majority of these definitions are NOT from actual furries, take it from a real one. Unlike the pictures suggest, a furry is NOT BY ANY MEANS a person who dresses as an animal. Despite the fact that some furries do enjoy that, it is NOT the definition. A person who dresses as an animal, is a gigolo (pronounced ji-gill-oh). A furry, on the other hand is a person who finds anthropomorphic animals (meaning they walk, talk, think, act, and have personalities like a human) appealing, often but not always sexually. *Other misconceptions* - not all furries like yiff, and the 2 CANNOT be considered the same, or even similar - being a furry does NOT mean wanting to have sex with the characters, although some do, it is NOT a requirement Examples of furry Characters: -Minerva Mink -Sheila Vixen -Amy the Squirrel

Non-furry: "Why do you have pictures of Minerva Mink on your PC?" Furry: "Oh... heheh, I'm kind of what you call a furry..." Non-furry: "....I don't get it at all but whatever..." Furyy: "Hey dude, furry pride for the win\!"

There are numerous definitions to describe a furry: -Someone who finds the idea of anthropomorphic (human-like) animals, in art, fiction, cartoons, costume, or other media, to be an appealing one. -A mentally deranged "human being" who thinks that dressing up in animal costumes and fingering their dog is a "normal" thing that other people have to appreciate. -The most hated, not to mention strangest, sub-division in the geek world. -Furry also means "covered in fur" or "an anthropomorphic animal" -The most commonly trolled target -Most furries upload disturbing videos of their sick drawings, mostly "human-like" wolves fucking other "human-like" wolves. -They'll probably also upload videos of them showing their passion towards other internet users. In general, furries are sick people who have twisted minds due to both bad parenting and interests in fucking animals.

[Furries] are people who in some way are unhappy with their actual lives/self and look for another outlet to make themselves feel better. In this case, being a [furry] facilitates this need by allowing the individual to not only hide their indentity but to also act in a way unlike their normal behavior. This is in my opinion a wonderful way to make oneself feel better about being "different", because they can find a way to fit in. [Furries] are people too. Please respect them and treat them as you would like to be treated. No one is forcing you to participate in the [Furry Fandom]. A furry is a person who feels a bond with a certain species of animals and is active in conservation of wildlife and environment. Not to be confused with bestiality and zoophilia, Furries are usually found in parks or pubs being normal and earning money. Some furs will wear a fursuit or a tail, for example, but because there are many narrow-minded people many Furs are too scared to wear their Furry items in public. Being Furry is merely an expression of love for the animal kingdom.

A type of person (though they refuse to be called a person due to their affinity with animals) who acts as though they have fur growing on every square centimeter of their body, wants to obtain a fursuit, and most likely wears a collar for real animals. Most furries rant about how nobody loves them, even though a plethora of horny animal-wannabes keep trying to yiff with the lonely furry. This sometimes causes the lonely furry to draw obscene, depressing, badly made pictures of their fursona (animal alterego) bleeding, crying, howling, cutting themselves (even though they might possess aposable thumbs), growling, etc. Another majority of furries, mostly female, are attention whores. Once their lover leaves them, they become depressed and sometimes do the things mentioned in the above paragraph. Once they decide from the millions of male/female furries who want to mate, they suddenly become the happiest "animal" alive. The art that furries draw is amusingly/strangely morbid. Furry art ranges from nude bipedal animals having "soft spots" from grotesquely muscular beasts cuddling their male/female lover. I advise staying away from amateur furry art unless you want to develop a tumor. Some furry artists are actually quite good. Though I've said a lot of horrible things about furries, not all of them are bad. If you find a furry who doesn't want to have sex every minute of its life, there's a good chance he/she will be a reliable friend.

furries are the most annoying fandom you will ever witness.Furries carry three traits obnoxious, self-righteous,and hypersensitive. In other words furries are stuck up assholes. Here are some quotes from furries that I have found quote 1:"we'll laugh back at how humans are having below par lives". Wow,it's a wonder why most people hate furries.Quote 2: "furries are humans in the fact that they are above normal humans" Furries will inform you that they have the right to say, do and draw whatever they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Yet I see these hypocritical bastards go to sites and say quote "anti furries should be shot" Oh yes, they'll tell you that they have the right say whatever they want but lord help you if you say one bad thing about them. They find it ok to think of themselves as better than "non-furries" but believe it wrong not to like them? Sounds a little strange to me. Furries tend to believe themself as a unique fandom. This is not true for example:I have seen a program where star trek fans wear their star trek costumes all the time, some who only wear their star trek conventions just like "fursuiters" .Star trek fans trade action figures like furries trade their so called "art".Furries are like all the other fandoms out there like those star trek and star wars fandom.Star trek, star wars, furries and all the other fandoms out there have the same catagory of people too, those who take the fandom too far, those who just like the fandom, and those who get perverted over the fandom.Wake up furries you are not different, you are not unique, you are not special.Furries are not a race although they tend to believe that they are a race being mistreated or hated.Furries, you are not a race, you are not better than us, you are not unique, get over yourself.

As mentioned in entry thirty-five, most furries are people who have gained a sort of insanity and are far too erotic. There are very, very few furries who are truly respective toward the animal. Sadly, those few people sink deeper into furrydom and and eventually start adding some erotic moments into their stories, as well as drawing pictures of furries with less and less clothing and more and more focus on the human bodyparts. Many furries who are still capable of being social are more often than not rude, pay little attention, defend themselves with poor arguments, and are friends with stuck-up people who force a trait onto themselves, such as being cute or noble when they are actually nasty and insulting. Some furries, however, truly are fans simply because they like the concept of animals reaching the stage of evolution that humans have reached, mainly because they wish to speak with and befriend animals or get to know their pets better. These furries can put aside their liking of animals and be kind, social, human people.

San-Renard is a strange furry. On one hand, he likes them simply because they are cute. On the other hand, he has made some greatly disturbing furry porn. True furries, not the sick freaks, have very little, if not non-existant, erotic moments in their stories and despise the horrid pictures of furries on the web.

64. (furry) (285↑, 402↓)
A furry is a fat, ugly homosexual, occasionally a pedophile, who gets into a badly-tailored homemade suit that looks vaguely like a six-foot-tall fat fox and then pounds other people in skunk suits or unsuspecting animals in the ass. Generally believes himself to be some sort of animal trapped in a human body waiting to get out. This is a delusion that keeps them from realizing that they're socially worthless pigfuckers.

"Oh hay, that furry just fucked my dog\! Kill him\!"

65. (furry) (144↑, 267↓)
A sad fatbeard in a poorly constructed animal costume; a bestialist; a person who believes himself to be a wolf or other popular animal; an imaginary animal-headed character; the homeless bagpeople of the geek fandoms.

Man, you're just a lowdown nogood furry.

66. (furry) (201↑, 327↓)
A sick, sad person who secretly wishes to fuck the animal he tries to base his life around. Usually claims to be the reincarnation of a dragon, fox, wolf, or horse. Furries enjoy making doodles and stories of male-on-male animal sex, and posting them all over the Web for everyone to see. Note: furries can't draw or write.

The furry is fucking my sheeps.

67. (furry) (180↑, 310↓)
A furry is a disillusioned person who claims that their own social ineptness is due to an innate link with the animal world rather than the fact that they're ugly and smell of onions. Like most social outcasts such as anime fans and nerds, Furries believe themselves to be 'unique' and superior to everyone else. In truth, they are no more an animal trapped in a human body than you or I. Furries dress up in animal costumes and viciously rape one another from behind, which supposedly brings them more in tune with the animal kingdom. This disturbing sexual fetish can, and normally does, subsequently turn them into paedophiles at later stages in life.

miaow miaow I'm a cat, lick my ass

68. (furry) (96↑, 228↓)
Porn for people who can't decide if they're nerds or rednecks. At least 80% of furry drawings are pornographic and at least 60% of furry fans are perverted freaks. Just look at VCL. Better yet, just play Furcadia for 5 minutes and you'll see what "furry" is all about. NOTE: The term "Furry art" has NEVER been accepted as an artform by professional animators. Try applying for a job at Disney as an animator and tell them you draw furry art (or just use the term "furry" in a sentence). Watch how fast you get shown the door.

There isn't a single person at any furry convention that doesn't look like the Simpsons Comic Book Guy.

furries are the most annoying fandom you will ever witness.Furries carry three traits obnoxious, self-righteous,and hypersensitive.

A furry is an annoying,self-righteous prick.

1: Any kind of [hentai] containing anthropomorphic creatures, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Krystal (Starfox: Adventures), etc. Furry pr0n is very enjoyable, and can also be very [hawt]. 2: Anyone who looks at such [hentai].

Sonic pr0n is what took me over to the furry side. Now I'm furry, and I never want to go back. I am forever hooked on furry pr0n.

72. (furry) (144↑, 292↓)
A derogatory term that befits individuals who find pictures of anthropomorhpic creatures erotic and / or awe-inspiring. Unfortunately there is no one definition for a furry, so this will break down the stages that a human goes through to become a furry: 1. An individual finds a species of animal particularly interesting or beautiful, and begins to seek works that include this animal. This may range from artwork, books, or fiction from various authors. No quirks have been noted at this stage, but the individuals affection with the creature begins to grow beyond the bounds of admiration and into something far, far more sinister. 2. The individual meets other individuals who share a common ground with the animal in question. They begin to discuss in great detail about the animal and aspects of the animal they find fascinating. They may go so far to say that they would like those aspects as a part of themselves. They begin to find or make works of their own about the creature, becoming more and more detailed with each project. Admiration slips into affection, and from affection to pure, raw, lust. (Note that at this stage the furry is still of a human mind, though slightly bewildered. Most furries are at this stage.) 3. The individuals expresses a unnatural desire for the animal in question. To appease their increasing need for self-satisfaction, the individuals find or make works of the animal in a human-esque form, usually in poses that most rational people would find questionable. The individuals go so far to say that they require sexual release from these creatures, and speak of their animal on a daily if not hourly basis. Their mind derails all forms of rational thought and replaces it with the animal. They shelter themselves from the outside world and delve deeper into their circle of e-friends. Most furries at this stage appear human from a distance, and mayhaps even up close, but conversations with them tend to rival the witty banterings of the insane, ranging from random outbursts about their love of the animal to their need to find more people who wish to talk about how they love their animal. Most conversations may or may not include the words 'yiff', 'vore', or 'Yahoo Groups'. 4. Any aspects that made up the furrys former sanity crumble as they are now completely detached from the sentient world. They ARE the animal in all respects. They find solace in extremely erotic pictures of the animal with other animals, doing things both consensual, non-consensual, and most of the times outright acts of unbelieveable terror that rational humans would find horrifying and grounds of lunacy. They also may wear full-body makeup or a costume or the animal in question, and engage in physical acts within their circle of friends. Not all furries, however, are that extreme at the practice. Eventually they consider themselves members of some sound religion that is under fire of prejudice, and they lash out at any and all anti-furry activists (humans) as it threatens their sheltered lifestyle and could possibly shatter their imaginary world. They begin to think of themselves as the only sentient beings, when in actuality the clowns are running the circus in their fantasy world of shitting dicknipples and transvestite dogs. Any and all form of human interaction with a furry at this stage is impossible or considered an act of anti-furry terrorism that is met with an explosion of outrage and extreme argumentation, usually over the internet. Some are so serious in their practice that they undergo incredible surgeries to graft a part of their animal (ears, tail, whiskers, shitting dicknipples) onto themselves. (Note that this stage is the most dangerous and should be recommended for immediate execution, sterilization, or possible exhibit at the local zoo.)

The Wrong Example: "That man owns a copy of The Lion King, and is therefore a furry." The Right Example: "That man owns a centerfold of simba / mufasa incest, and is therefore a furry."

73. (furry) (218↑, 371↓)
One of the group of [beastality] [fetishist]s notorious for drawing God-awful [porn] pictures and erotic stories of naked animorphic/humanlike-animals engaging in pornographic or sexual activities. Most furries are gay, and their works flaunt that in a sickening manner. Furries are often seen behaving like the animals they fantasize about, talking almost wholly about animals/animorphic characters, using words like "plush", "yiff", "furvert", and "mundane" in half of their sentences, tattooing themselves with stripes, spots, or animorphic characters, dressing up in animal costumes, even having surgery to turn themselves into horrific monstrosities of their former selves. Note: There are folks who show a mild interest in animorphic creatures and maybe read/create works that involve animorphic creatures, yet look and act like normal human beings. Unfortunately, that is an extreme rarity. And for crying out loud, furries are NOT a fucking ethnic group or race\!

The furry cult bears complete responsibility for single-handedly ruining the [Sonic the Hedgehog] cartoon/game series. Just type "sonic fan" on any search engine and see for yourself. What's really hilarious is that when furries get criticized, they usually blame [Portal of Evil], or [Something Awful], or whatever Internet scapegoat they can find, never mind that they have pissed off more than their fair share of average, decent folks who are being perpetually exposed to the furry fandom's shameless display of obscene behavior.

PEOPLE (just calling them human will insult them) who are aroused by being an animal. They draw themselves as animals and role play. The also hang out at werelist to flame mundane folk like myself. Some of them dress in fursuits and some of them even have sex in the suits. Talk about perverted. Some are bad and some are good but you just cant generalize them as perverts. Some people I know are furries and they dont talk about yiff or being an animal all of the time.

Furries are not perverts it is just a fetish they have, BUT LETS MAKE FUN OF THEM ANYWAY CAUSE I HATE THEM AND THEY ARE WIERD.

75. (furry) (111↑, 292↓)
Furries... ah. Hmm, well, I'll try not to make this hateful. Current day furries are a twisted version of what was once an appreciation of animated "furry" characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck (as other definitions of this word before mine reference.) However, the current furry is... scary. Your modern furry will enjoy looking at pornographic art of anthropomorphic characters, and some even believe they are animals in human form - I am not kidding. Having met the modern day versus an older days furry, I can safely say that modern day furries are an excellent example of corruption. They have corrupted what was once an innocent appreciation of characters into the sickening thing it has become. Modern-day Furries (mostly) abhor [Something Awful], a site which isn't afraid to point out and make fun of what furries have become. Thank god [Something Awful] is around... heh, that's where I first learned about how furries were once not so bad...

"A furry is a sad, sad thing..."

A furry is someone who wishes they were an animal. Unfortunately laws prevent the rest of us from putting them down like dogs.

81. (furry) (104↑, 358↓)
Sick perverts who have a fetish for furry animals. They tend to draw themselves as animals and dress in fursuits and go to furry conventions.

I like to beat up furries when they dress up in their fursuits. It is easy cause they tire so easily dressed like that and have muted sences thanks to their stupid animal mask.

82. (furry) (117↑, 382↓)
word pertaining to one, usually nymphomaniac, homo/bisexual, and/or male, who has a fetish in anthropomorphic animals, to the extent of dressing up, writing stories, or drawing pictures of such, most often with the intent of being sexually deviant; often associated with anyone using anthropomorphic animals in their works; looked down upon by non-furries
